The region that would become the state of Illinois became
part of the Northwest Territory when it was formed in 1787 and then part
of Indiana Territory when it was formed in 1800. Illinois Territory
was created in 1809 and, at that time, included what would become Illinois,
Wisconsin, and eastern Minnesota. Illinois achieved statehood in
1818. The 1800 census was lost and only one county is extant for
1810 (Randolph). No STRAUB/STROUP/STROUD/etc. were found in the reconstructed
censuses for 1810 and 1818. There were state censuses in 1825, 1830,
1835, 1845, 1855, and 1865. |
