Jacob Straub (1808-1889) was the first of three brothers to come from Snyder County, Penna., to Carroll County.  He came to this country in 1854, and settled on a farm three miles west of Shannon.  Later he moved to Manson, Iowa, where he died.  In Pennsylvania, he had married Hannah Gordon; and they were the parents of five children: Harriet, the wife of John C. Atkins of Shannon; Lucinda, the wife of John Q.A. Clark of Savanna...
Yes, Jacob & Hannah were the parents of five childen, but not these five.  Harriet and Lucinda are, at most, adopted.  Jacob & Hannah's first two children were Hannah and Susan, not Harriet and Lucinda.
