These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred

1 female 16-25 1784-1794 = Margaret (b. 1780-90)
John is tallied in the wrong age class, but surely this is our subject because we know he was in the county at the time.  Also in Ohio County:  presumed brother, Henry STROEP.

*In the 1820 Census, the third column is age class 16-18 and the fourth column is age class 16-25; therefore, any individual in column three is duplicated in column four.  By subtracting the number in column three from the number in column four, you can create an age class "19-25."

STROUP - STROOPS FAMILY
Recollections of George Alexander Stroops

John Stroup was born in Germany and fought in the Revolutionary War.  His wife and other children are unknown, except John Stroops.  They lived in Virginia and he is said to have brought a ship load of Belgian horses to America when he came.

The name became changed to Stroops after coming to America. John Stroops, a Methodist minister brought his family to Browning township, Schuyler County, Illinois.  His wife was Margaret Eccles, her father was Norwegian.  She had a brother Henry Eccles.  John and Margaret had a family of 12 children - namely - Adam, who fought in the War of 1812, Conrad, John, Thomas, Joseph, Margaret, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Almira, Sidney and Benjamin M. who married Elner Higgs from England.  She was supposed to have been entitled to an estate share of Queen Victoria.  George A. Stroops wrote Alexander Higgs in England, but never received a reply.  Benjamin said the family lived in a large two-story stone house in Marshall County, Virginia.  Benjmain M. Stroops and Elner Higgs Stroops were the parents of 8 children.

ECCLES is a Scots/English/Irish surname, not Norwegian.  If Margaret's father was Norwegian, then ECCLES is a misspelling of some other surname.  Elner (HIGGS) STROOPS and her parents were born in Virginia, not England; the connection to royalty is no doubt fanciful.  The important question is whether George was correct about the identity and history of his great-grandfather.
