Jeremiah L. STROOPS
Eliza E. STEEL
Sarah M. BEGHTOL
Husband:  Jeremiah "Jerry" L. STROOP / STROOPS

Death:  19 Jul 1925, Browning Twp., Schuyler Co., IL
Father:  Benjamin M. STROOP/STROOPS, Sr.

One secondary source says Jeremiah's middle name is Marsh.

Sources (n.b., McDonough Co. is adjacent to Schuyler Co.):

1.  Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763–1900:
STROOPS, Jeremiah STEEL, Eliza E 01/19/1865   Lic#2346 McDonough Co.
STROOPS, Jeremiah JACKSON, Sarah Ann (Mrs) 01/22/1882 v. C, p. 144 Lic#8255 Schuyler Co.
I wonder if a sloppy capital "M" was mis-read as "Ann"?  She is Sarah "M." in her first marriage record and in the 1870 and 1910/20/30 censuses.  I've found her nowhere else as "Sarah Ann" or even "Sarah A."

2a.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  I cannot find Jeremiah or Eliza, anywhere.

2b.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #40 of 54):  Browning P.O., Browning Twp., Schuyler Co., IL, Roll M593_276, p. 66B, PN 41, 201/201, enumerated 10 Jun 1870, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•

It has been asserted that the older William here is Jeremiah, but it's almost certainly his brother, Parmenas W. STROOPS, especially given that Jeremiah's middle initial is "L."  Benjamin, Jane, and Thomas were born in IL, not VA.

If two men are brothers, they have the same parents; and if they have the same parents, their parents had to have been born in the same place!  Sheesh.  Benjamin's record is the correct one:  their parents were born in VA [possibly now WV, but uncertain].  Jeremiah's record should have read divorced or widowed, not "single."  Too bad, because we could have used the information.
