Footnotes:
1. Numerical pages precede name pages. 2. This woman is said to be the widow of Philip CORBIN, but Widow Sally (WEAVER) CORBIN should be in her 40s and have at least a few children over the age of 10. This woman is in her 20s and has just one child, under the age of five. Are these two daughters of the late Philip CORBIN? 3. I do not actually find John CORBIN in the 1840 census of New Harmony Twp., Posey Co., IN, but some of the pages are unreadable and there's every reason to believe John CORBIN and his first wife, Margaret GIBSON, are here because two different biographical sketches of one of his sons have the family moving from PA to New Harmony in either 1832 or 1836. |
Search Notes:
1. The Daniel A. CARBEN indexed in Vermillion County is CORBEN, but should be CORBIN (see above). 2. The Jno. M. CERKIN indexed in Rush County is Jno. M. CORBIN (image is clearer at Genealogy.com, see above). 3. The Joel CORKEN indexed in Washington County is CORKEN. 4. The Henry CORKIN indexed in Shelby County is CORKIN. 5. I didn't check the CORKINS. 6. The Catherine CORLUM indexed in Scott County may be CORLUM, but whatever, it's not CORBIN. 7. The John CORNTSE indexed in Ripley County is CRONTZE. 8. The Jan CROBIN indexed in Cass County may actually be John CORBIN (see above). 9. The John CARTER indexed in Clay County is CARTER. 10. Finished search at Ancestry.com on COR* and CARB*. 11. Page-by-page: Perry Twp,. Clay Co.; Brown Twp., Hancock Co.; Connersville (twice) and Harrison, Fayette Co.; New Harmony, Posey Co. |
