1Markers 26-37 unknown, unless
this individual contacts me or joins the BIDDLE project.
| Given their genetic distance from the modal haplotype at 37 markers
(GD=14), it's not suprising that this haplotype is rare. On the other
hand, given their haplotype's close resemblance to the model haplotype
at 12 markers (GD=1), it's surprising that they have so few matches at
that level. Other than their matches with each other, in the FTDNA
database they have just three 12/12 matches, all outside the project (in
surnames HARRIS, LEVY, and BIDDLE). #33766 and #101265 continue to
have a 25/25 match with the BIDDLE, and #33766 has a 35/37 match with the
BIDDLE, while the matches with the other surnames fall away. As of
14 Aug 2009, there is just one BIDDLE in the SMGF database and one in the
Ysearch database, neither of whom is remotely a match. Tinkering
with the databases at Ysearch and SMFG, it appears that DYS385b=18
is the major sticking point in preventing matches. |
| This STROUP-BIDDLE match is looking like an NPE, either on the part
of the STROUPs or the BIDDLE. If the former, the NPE had to have
occurred earlier in their lineages than Jacob II; if the latter, it could
have happened at any time because this BIDDLE does not match the other
four BIDDLEs so far tested at FTDNA. There had been no BIDDLE project
at FTDNA, so I requested one, and now the BIDDLE
Surname Project is open (15 Nov 2007). With enough testing, we
can uncover where the NPE occurred. I have repeatedly contacted the
matching BIDDLE, but unfortunately have not had a reply. Given that
the "Y-DNA Matches" tab for #33766 shows the BIDDLE has a 12/12, 25/25,
35/37 match with our STROUPs, we can at least fill in the BIDDLE's first
25 markers. |
| Jim Cullen's haplogroup predictor gives, as its strongest probability,
a 49% chance that his haplotype represents J-M172, which turns out to be
correct. FTDNA has run a complimentary (free) backbone SNP test for
#101308, with a result of M172+ proving he is subclade J-M172. Your
project admin recommends at least one of you (preferably the one who has
tested the most markers, viz., #101265) undergo deep SNP testing
to determine your most downstream SNP and J subclade. |
| Two of these individuals have joined the Haplogroup J project.
Based on their haplotypes, the project has placed them in the J-2a4h subclade.
The values of 9 at DYS450 and 10 at DYS445 are correlated with being in
that subclade. |
| Because of the rarity of this haplotype, your project admin recommends
uploading your results to Ysearch, as an aid to J2 researchers and to
make life easier for your project admin. If you don't upload your
data to Ysearch, I have to manually enter your data each time I
want to do a search for matches for you. |
