Secondary sources show all the children born in GA as having been born in "Trickum, Dogwood Valley, Whitfield Co., GA."

Adopted Child of Matilda ESLINGER:
10.  Richard Bruce ESLINGER-STROUP, b. 2 Nov 1852, GA; d. aft. 1900; m. 1 Oct 1881, Catoosa Co., GA, Florence LOWE (c1853- )

Based on the 1860 census, I would have said Richard was Matilda's son by a prior marriage (to a Mr. ESLINGER); however, some secondary sources say she was the daughter of Daniel & Mary ESLINGER.  So… Did Matilda ESLINGER marry first a Mr. ESLINGER?  Or was Richard her illegitimate son?  Either way, he is not our subject's son.

I've found no primary source giving him a middle name, so it's questionable whether this source is correct.
