E1b1b is the third most common haplogroup in Europe, after R1b and I1.  It is an ancient group that probably originated in the Middle East, but became widespread over Europe and is presently universal around the Mediterranean.  Some of the oldest populations in Britain (e.g., some Welsh towns) have concentrations of E1b1b as high as 40%.  FTDNA has deduced that our subject is E1b1b1.

In the FTDNA database, #N13674 has over 400 full matches at 12 markers and a few near matches at 25 markers (all in other surnames), but at 37 markers, he has no matches, at all.  His matching levels at Ysearch and SMGF are similar, so his 37-marker haplotype remains unique (as of 28 Nov 2010).
*compiled by DGM from data at the E-M35 Phylogeny Project as of 27 Aug 2010.

What constitutes a match?
Matches in other surnames are usually mere coincidence, so please ignore them — I'll let you know when you shouldn't!
For 12 markers: 9 or less is a non-relative; for 10-12 markers, please see this table compiled by FTDNA.
For 25 markers: 21 or less is a non-relative; for 22-25 markers,
For 37 markers: 31 or less is a non-relative; for 32-37 markers,
For 67 markers: 59 or less is a non-relative; for 60-67 markers,
For 111 markers: 100 or less is a non-relative; for 101-111 markers,
For any test:  0 matching markers, please contact NASA.
