Normally, when a man marries at age 40, you can safely assume he had an earlier wife, but as far as George's daughter, Maude Irene, knew, he had no earlier spouse.  George and Delilah were living in Indian Valley, Monterey Co., in 1880, but Delilah went to Maine Prairie to be with her mother to birth her third child, which is why Delilah died there and not in Monterey County.  Delilah's death was some time after 27 Aug 1880 and before 31 Dec 1880 because Delilah's tombstone says 1880 and her daughter, Maude Irene, says Delilah died when she was three years old.

Marriage-2:  17 Dec 1885, Monterey Co., CA

Birth:  7 Dec 1838, Bradley Co., TN
