Notice: I'm using this page to pull together "unconnected" STROUPs in Jefferson Co., MO, plus a BELEW who is a genetic match to these STROUPs. So far, all of the identified STROUPs found in Jefferson Co., MO, have been descendants of Adam STROUP of Lincoln Co., NC. The children of Adam's son, Peter, have been identified (in his spouse's will), so the others are believed to be children of Peter's siblings, Andrew STROUP and Henry STROUP. A will for Andrew has not been found, so the identities of his children are unknown. I have been unable to find the evidence for Henry's existence, much less a list of his children, but secondary sources assert he did come to Missouri with his brothers. The individuals listed below as Children may or may not be siblings (and given their birthdates, at least a few of them cannot be).

Several of the above individuals have census records where the children are difficult to reconcile from decade to decade, suggesting that there are STROUP orphans popping up from unidentified, deceased parents.

DNA testing has revealed that a patrilineal descendant of this individual is one of these STROUPs:
. Silas BELEW, b. 1823/4, MO
possibly adopted by Silas's apparent stepfather, Solomon BELEW. The suggestion that he is one of the orphans of Andrew STROUP does not hold up because Solomon BELEW died in 1836, before Andrew STROUP (in 1837) — unless these death dates are wrong.
