Y-DNA Haplogroup I1-M253 SNP Character Matrix
This is a large page that may take a some time to load. Please be patient. — as of February 2014 — |
Many subjects in these tables have tested SNPs that are phyloequivalent
to M253 or upstream of M253, all of which were positive — as they should
be — so they are not included in the matrix (unless standing in for M253),
except for a special "Root SNPs"
matrix for the few individuals who are DF29-. Many have tested
Hg I2 SNPs, all of which were negative — as they should be — so they are
not included in the matrix. In the case of I1-Z58, I did not score
Z58+ individuals for negative SNPs outside of Z58, so those SNPs are not
included in the Z58 matrix. Despite reducing the number of SNPs scored
for the matrix, these table are still huge, so the larger clades have been
spun off to their own pages (links below).
The haplotrees on the matrix pages have been abbreviated as they are functioning merely as link hubs to the clades lower down the page. The entire Hg I1-M253 haplotree is on its own page. If you have a wide-aspect display, this makes it easy to tile the haplotree in one window and browse a matrix in the other. There's no significance to the Z63+ matrix being broken into parts beyond the fact that my HTML editor balks at big tables. These data were compiled in February 2014, and it's unlikely I will update them any time soon. |

Unless otherwise indicated, everyone in the matrices was extracted
from the Hg I1 project, which was the first project scanned. The
other projects were scanned only to pick up individuals not found in the
Hg I1 project, and there were quite a few. These are indicated as
such in the matrices, so you can more easily find their haplotypes should
you wish to check them out.
You may find a SNP result in these matrices that does not appear in any of the above FTDNA project SNP Results tables. There can be several reasons for this. One is that the SNP was revealed on a WTY test, and WTY test results are not displayed on the SNP Results table. Any SNP testing done at other companies is not going to show up at FTDNA, either. I picked these up either because someone emailed me, personally, or more likely, I found them by searching for the SNP in the Archive of the Y-DNA-HAPLOGROUP-I mailing list at RootsWeb. In some cases, I've found the result in a project other than the ones listed above, but this situation is usually indicated by a footnote under the individual matrix table. The FTDNA Project Subgroups are labeled with a combination of SNP names and/or Cluster names as shown on each project's Y-DNA STR Results pages (see this page for the difference between a clade and a cluster). |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A small black asterisk (*) means an upstream or equivalent SNP has
not been tested; a bold red asterisk (*)
means the next-level downstream SNP has not been tested. A red asterisk
may also mean a parallel or upstream SNP test is desirable to help anchor
a SNP — or the individual — where the current position is tentative.
A "p" inside a cell means a test result is
pending. "NIS" means "not in a subclade" (a phrase used in grouping
at the Hg I1 project, shortened here to save space in the table).

M253
We have six individuals who have tested negative for either_DF29 or Z131 — the obvious next step is to test the other.

M253 >DF29
Now that PF49 has been placed just downstream of DF29, the only true root DF29*'s are the McCRIMMON and the POOTMAN, in the first two rows.

L69+ occurs in three different places in the Hg I1 haplotree, so other SNPs are needed to prove which L69+ mutation an individual possesses. Where Z58 is negative, there still remains the need to prove either CTS10028 or L22 is negative to be certain of being I1-L69.1, rather than I1-L69.3.
2Technically, the SKARBEK and McISAAC have not proven they are I1-L69.1. 3This individual is a GILBERT with an adoption in patrilineal line; additional results via this message in the Archive of the Y-DNA-HAPLOGROUP-I mailing list. [Top] |

How do we know M21 is downstream of DF29 and CTS6364, or even M253?

M253 > DF29?

My question is: if the only SNPs tested were M253 and P259, how do we know P259 is downstream of DF29, much less downstream of CTS6364?
