Tennessee was formed from North Carolina in 1796.  The 1800 Tennessee census was lost, and all but two cities of the 1810 Tennessee census were lost (viz., Jefferson and Nashville in Rutherford Co.) — there were no LYON(S)/LION(S) in this 1810 fragment.  Of the 48 counties existing at the time of the 1820 census, 22 were lost.  The entire 1890 Federal census was lost.
