5b.  1880 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  can't find.  He should be in New York City, NY (see previous Source).  I went to the census and viewed the residents at 25 Madison Ave., New York City, which is called the "Madison Apartment House" (Roll 880, ED 278, pp. 88A-88B), but could not find Edward.  I did find several of the males who were registered to vote at that address along with him, so I definitely found the correct address.  The census was enumerated on 4 Jun 1880, so perhaps he hadn't moved in yet or had moved out by 1 Jun 1880, the official enumeration date of the 1880 census.  It's also possible he was simply missed by the enumerator.
