ANNOUNCEMENT:  There is a mailing list for researchers of the genealogy and family history of Thomas THOMPSON and kin, including his sister, Rachel THOMPSON and her husband, William T. Sources (n.b., Grundy Co. was formed in 1841 from part of Livingston Co.; Mercer Co. was formed in 1845 from Grundy Co.; Washington Twp. was split between Mercer and Grundy Cos.; these families lived virtually on the county line between Mercer and Grundy):

3.  Family Quest Archives:  Missouri Federal Census 1840:  Lewis, Lincoln, Linn, and Livingston Counties.  Heritage Quest CD M704-225 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
1840 MO Livingston [now Mercer or Grundy] Co. Washington Twp. p. 262 William Reed 200 001 - 000 100
These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
2 males 4 or under 1835-1840 = John C. (b. 1840/1)
= Thomas T.
1 male 30-39 1800-1810 = William
1 female 15-19 1820-1825 = Sallie
William appears to be in a "too old" age category while Sally is in a "too young" age category; yet I don't doubt these are our subjects because they are listed two lines down from Sallie's father, Thomas THOMPSON.  But where is daughter, Delilah?  She should be 5 years old.  Is she really their daughter?  There were only 31 households in all of Washington Twp.

Co., St. Louis, MO.  On p. 112 begins a biographical sketch of "Elder William Reed, Sr."  I don't have a copy, but it's said not to contain useful genealogical information, just religious annecdotes.
