It's probable that the NPE occurred with our subject, that is, that his unknown father was a CARRICO male. This hypothesis can be tested by having patrilineal descendants of our subject's other sons, Robert Atkins and Alexander, also Y-DNA tested. If they are all CARRICOs, we know our subject was also one. If the others are genetically matching PHELPS, we know the NPE was, literally, further on down the line. Exactly where can be deduced by testing patrilineal male descendants of John Crocketts sons.
