Sarah PHELPS |
Subject: Sarah PHELPS
Birth said to be: 1806, Grayson Co., VA Death said to be: 1881 Spouse: m. 1848-50, Ahart FARMER Father: Samuel PHELPS Mother: Rhoda COLLINS Sarah is said to be Sarah DULLON, but I've yet to find any primary document giving her that name. It does appear, from the absence of a father in her children's marriage records (see first Source below), that she was an unmarried woman at the time of their births. It also appears she did marry Ahart FARMER because 1) the children took his name in the 1850 census and 2) in the 1900 census, Ahart FARMER is labeled as the "stepfather" of John Calvin PHELPS. I suspect the maiden name, DULLON, was fabricated to cover up the fact that PHELPS was not her married name, but her maiden name. |
