Richard LYON
Ms. __?__
WARNING:  I have yet to find anything to prove that this Richard LYON ever existed.  He appears to have been fabricated to fill in the gap between William and Isabelle (WIGHTMAN) LYON, as Isabelle was too old to be the mother of the three alleged brothers:  Richard, Thomas, and Henry (DNA testing now shows only Richard and Henry are related, not Thomas).  If you have any documentation to support the existance of this Richard LYON, please enlighten  me.
Husband:  Richard LYON
Birth:  1590, Glen Lyon, Perthshire, Scotland — or Middlesex, England
Father:  William LYON
Mother:  Isabell WIGHTMAN
WARNING:  If Richard was born in Perthshire, Scotland, he was certainly not the son of this William LYON, who was born in and died in Middlesex, England.  On the other hand, if this Richard was this William's son, then he was almost certainly born in Middlesex, which completely blows the tradition that the three alleged sons, below, were born in Perthshire.  All these references to an origin in Glen Lyon (a.k.a., Glenlyon) appear to be romantic fantasies.
Marriage:
Wife:  Ms. __?__
Children — said to be born in Glen Lyon, Perthshire, Scotland:
PLEASE NOTE:  while Richard, Thomas, and Henry are securely documented to have existed, there is nothing to document that they were brothers and Y-DNA testing now shows only two of them are related.  There is also nothing to document the identities of their parents or their country of origin.

Y-DNA Haplogroup R-L21:
Richard LYON, b. probably 1610s/20s
Henry LYON, b. 1622-24

Y-DNA Haplogroup R-176.2:
Thomas LYON, b. 1621

Richard's probable birthyears are based on the facts that his eldest children were born in the early 1640s and that most men married around age 23.

1. Ahnentafel of the ancestry of Henry LYON from the database of the Lyon(s) Families Association, courtesy of database manager, Bruce C. Lyon.  I'm told that these data, which are from Sidney Lyon's (1907) Lyon Memorial, are now believed to be wrong, at least as regarding Henry and Richard.  The ancestry may be correct from William and Isabelle backwards.
