Please Note: Some secondary sources have our subject married in 1863 to a Susan BOYLE, but it makes far more sense that she married a different Reason CARRICO. Among other things, in the 1910 census (see below), Reason indicates he has been married just twice, not three times.

Dorcas is a scriptural name from the Greek word meaning "gazelle"; Dorcus is a misspelling.
Dorcas told whopping fibs about her age in mid-life, but seems to have come "back to reality" in the end.

Listed next to Sarah's parents, John CLARK (æ 60, b. IN) and his wife, Hannah (æ 58, b. IN), whose children jibe with those in 1850.

The only Reason CARRICO (or variation) indexed in the entire United States is our subject's uncle, in Sullivan County. Can't find Sarah, Frances, or John, either. Widower Joseph D. WALLACE (æ 61, b. VA) is living in Haddon Twp., Sullivan Co., IN (p. 105B), with one of his married sons.

Dorcas has skimmed a decade off her age. The eldest son is indexed John, though it's barely readably. In any case, he's Reason's son from his prior marriage. The youngest child is indexed "Lena," but I find the name too faded to read; she's supposed to be Louise Eva.

Reason's age has become inflated by almost a decade, while Jane has skimmed over two decades off her age. They've been married 36 years, not 30. William did not show up in the 1880 census, so he must have been born in July 1880, not 1879.
