The 1790 and 1800 Virginia censuses were lost, except
for Accomac County (Delmarva Peninsula) in 1800. The entire 1890
census was lost. Only two Virginia counties are on the Delmarva Peninsula:
Accomac and Northampton. West Virginia did not become independent
from Virginia (did not become a state) until 1863, but I have kept those
counties separate from the start, as if WV had always existed.
Pre-1810 dates are from tax lists, petitions, local censuses, and other documents. |
