In addition to the gross error of making Corlis female and a niece (see next source), these two families were probably living in a duplex and appear to have no relationship to one another (again, see next source).  By combining them into one family, when there were clearly two, it makes it appear that Corlis is the "niece" of Richard MAYER, which he is not.  I guess it's a lesson that the LDS extraction can only be used as an index — of course, for that purpose, it is an incredibly useful tool.
