The BLOUNT AND BLUNT Pedigree Chart |
Source: Helen M. Blount Prescott. 1902. Blount and Blunt. Press of W.F. Roberts, Washington, DC. This publication is not a book, but a pedigree chart. | |||||||||
Prescott's chart is a hierachical tree that was published as a 17 x
22 inch "poster" (i.e., it's not a foldout from a book as I had
long assumed). I have found two libraries that appear to have
copies of the original: the Library of Congress (Call No: CS71.B657.1902)
and the Allen County Public Library in Ft. Wayne, IN (Call No: 929.2
B6244 P). Many thanks to Carolyn Fix Blount for sending me
a much more readable copy of this chart than I originally had at my disposal.
Thanks for assistance, too, to Kyle VanLandingham, who also had a clearer
copy than mine. The copy I had acquired, as part of a packet of "Blount
and Blunt family records" from Higginson
Book Co., was reduced in size by half from the original and was barely
readable throughout and totally unreadable in places.
I have recreated Prescott's tree as an outline decendancy without changing her text in any substantive way (that I'm aware of). The longer entries have been made into footnotes so lines won't "wrap" at lower monitor resolutions, and it is typed in a fixed pitch font, so generations will "line up." If you've set your browser to over-ride this font with a proportional font, the chart will likely be confusing to read. The chart has been broken into seven sections because otherwise there are so many generations, the chart falls off the right hand side of the screen. Prescott's pedigree is known to contains errors, so as with any secondary source, caveat emptor! If anyone wants to send me corrections, I'll be happy to post them as footnotes, with credit to the contributor. |
