Paul JOBS was adopted as an infant. Understandably, he is said
to have considered his adoptive parents, Paul
& Clara (HAGOPIAN) JOBS, to be his parents and to have considered
his biological parents merely his "sperm and egg donors." Nevertheless,
his biological ancestry is of genealogical interest, so below are pedigree
charts of both his adoptive ancestry and his biological ancestry.
Links in the charts lead to a family group sheet for each couple (I'm still
in the process of filling some of these out).
Our subject was born out of wedlock to Abdulfattah "John" JANDALI & Joanne Carole SCHIEBLE. John and Joanne later married and had another child — Stephen's full sister, novelist Mona E SIMPSON. John and Joanne then divorced, and each remarried. (Mona goes by her stepfather's surname, SIMPSON.) Abdulfattah JANDALI is a native of Syria. I know nothing of his ancestry; so, rather than leave half the chart with empty cells, the biological ancestry below is that of just Stephen's mother, Joanne. She was born in 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and her ancestry is 1/4 German-Swiss and 3/4 German. The chart begins with her parents. |

Many of the individuals in the earlier trees linked to this one were baptised in the Catholic church where they were recorded by a Latinized spelling of their name (e.g., Joannes for Johannes, Romanus for Roman, etc.). In all other contexts, they would almost certainly have been found using the Germanic spellings of their names. Arrows link to additional charts.
CH (Confoederatio Helvetica) is the country code for Switzerland, and Aargau is a German-speaking canton of Switzerland. The Duchy of Baden is now part of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany; the Kingdom of Saxony is now a state in Germany (Saxony in English, Sachsen in German); the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar is now part of the state of Thuringia, Germany. "Saxe" did not become Saxony as some secondary sources are mistakenly showing. |
