Johann Friedrich HACKBARTH
Ms. __?__
Charlotte LUEDTKE
WARNING:  It's unclear whether our subject had a prior wife because it does appear the first two children were born in Prussia, while our subject married Charlotte in Wisconsin.  On the other hand, the marriage and birth records in Wisconsin may be what are called delayed records, that is, ones created after-the-fact to affirm in Wisconsin past events in Germany; and if they are German church records, written in German, that would help to explain the transcription errors.  It should also be kept in mind that these delayed records would not necessarily have made a distinction between the biological mother and a stepmother, so it remains possible that our subject did marry twice.  The original records need to be sought to clarify the situation.

Is this a delayed recording, a renewal of vows, or is Charlotte his second wife?
