William WILLIAMS
Susanna STROUP Elizabeth LANTER |
WARNING: I may have mixed up two different William WILLIAMS'es here. The facts do fit for one, and I have found no better alternative, but we still need something concrete to prove these records apply to a single William WILLIAMS. One thing I find no evidence for is the allegation that our subject had an affair with Susan STROUP prior to his relationship with, then marriage to, Elizabeth (LANTER) STROUP, though I'm not ertain what evidence one might expect to find, which raises the question as to what basis there is for alleging the relationship in the first place. It does appear that Elizabeth (LANTER) STROUP had left her husband, George STROUP, before 1850 because she is not with him in the 1850 census. Assuming I have not mixed up our subject with a different William WILLIAMS, it does appear that Elizabeth is living with William WILLIAMS in the 1850 census, but that he actually married her later, in 1856. |
