Peter STROUP
Adeline CLUSEY
Husband:  Peter STRAUB / STROUP / STROUPP / STROUPE
Birth:  Aug 1832, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA
Death:  1 Apr 1911
Disposition:  buried Philadelphia National Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA
Occupation:  shoemaker
Military Service:  Civil War:  1861, Pvt., Co. K, 17th PA Inf.; 1861-65, Sgt., Co. D, 98th PA Inf.
Father:  Peter STROUP
Mother:  Elizabeth __?__
Marriage:  1852 or 1855/6 or 1857/8
Wife:  Adeline CLUSEY / CLUSY / CROUSE
Birth:  Nov 1832, PA
Occupation:  homemaker
Nephew:  Harry CLUSEY, b. May 1852, PA
Father:  Peter CROUSE / CRUSE / CRUSIE / CLUSEY
Mother:  Maria __?__
Children — born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA:
1.  George W. STROUP, b. 1853/4; d. by 1870
2.  Samuel STROUP, b. Jul 1859; d. by 1864/5
3.  Peter STROUP, b. 1860
4.  Adeline STROUP, b. 1861/2
5.  Samuel STROUP, b. 1864/5; d. by 1880
6.  Anna Caroline STROUP, b. 1866/7
7.  Thomas STROUP, b. 1870/1
8.  Catharine STROUP, b. May 1873

If Peter & Adaline were married in 1857/8 or even in 1855/6, then Peter had a prior wife who was the mother of George W.  Either that or George's age in the 1860 census is wrong, which is certainly possible.

Peter & Adaline should both be 77 years old.  As best I can figure, they haven't been married 52 years, but rather were married in 1852.  If they really were married in 1857/8, then Peter had a prior wife who was the mother of his son, George W. STROUP.
