Peter CLUSEY
Maria __?__ |
Husband: Peter CROUSE / CRUSIE / CRUSE / CLUSEY / CLUSY / LOUCEY
Birth: 1790 or 1791/2, Italy Occupation: carpenter The fact that Peter's surname was pronounced in two syllables (see census records below) strongly suggests he was German because the terminal "e" is not silent in German, while the English surname, CROUSE, is pronounced in one syllable. And despite being born in Italy, Peter's surname does not seem to correspond to any Italian surname. The surname CROUSE was not uncommon in Philadelphia, and of course, Germans were very common. Descendants believe the surname is CLUSEY, so that appears to be the spelling settled upon. |

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
