Joseph STROUP
Eliza Jane ROUSH |
Husband: Joseph STROUP
Birth: 29 Jul 1845, Highland Co., OH Death: 10 Jun 1931, Fairview, Highland Co., OH Disposition: buried Stroup Graveyard Father said to be: Claiborne STROUP Mother said to be: Mary STROUP |
Marriage: 8 Oct 1869 or 24/25 Dec 1869, Highland Co., OH
Secondary sources have them married 24 or 25 Dec 1869. The 8 Oct 1869 date is the date the marriage license was obtained, which usually preceeds the marriage by a few days, less often weeks, and rarely three months! I don't know the original source of the December date(s). |
Wife: Eliza Jane ROUSH
Birth: 26 Aug 1849, Highland Co., OH Death: 24 Jan 1919, Fairview, Highland Co., OH Disposition: buried Stroup Graveyard Father: Peter ROUSH Mother: Sarah PENCE |
Children — born in Highland Co., OH:
Secondary sources have the children born in Dodsonville (Dodson Twp.), but the 1880 census shows the family living in Hamer Twp. Unless there is some primary documentation showing Eliza went to Dodsonville to birth her children, I don't believe we can be certain of their birthplace, beyond Highland Co. |
1. Mary
Jane "Mollie" STROUP, b. 7 May 1869/70
2. Laura/Louisa STROUP, b. 24 Dec 1873; d.s.p. by 1880 3. Sarah Wilhelmina "Minnie" STROUP, b. 9 Jul 1870/72/75 4. Philip Kramer STROUP, b. 18 Dec 1882 5. Inez H. / Hattie Inez STROUP, b. Feb 1888 or 12 Jan 1889; d. 1976; m. 27 Aug 1915, Leslie SMITH The birth and death dates for the children appear to be from tombstones, which are probably the least accurate sources for birth dates because most people (particularly women) are usually fibbing about their age by mid-life, and these phony ages are the ones that get put on tombstones. The earlier birthdates above are consistent with the censuses, the later dates apparently from tombstones. The earlier birthyears are probably the more accurate ones. |

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
"The Cloud" is double-speak for "dumb terminal
