James M. STROUP
Amanda E. HUDGINS |
Note: A patrilineal descendant of our subject has been tested for the STRAUB Y-DNA Surname Project. Results show he is a match to other descendants of Johann Jacob STRAUB, a.k.a., Jacob STROUP I, 1733 immigrant to Philadelphia, who settled in North Carolina (see #203835 in this table). Jesse STROUP is a grandson of Jacob; so, from a genetic standpoint, James could be Jesse's son, however, the census records are confusing (see Jesse's page). There seems little doubt James is connected to Jesse, but it's not obvious whether or not he's his son. And while it may seem clear that Susan is our subject's mother, James would likely have called her "Mother" in the census, even if she was his stepmother or adoptive parent. If the county court records are extant, they should be searched for a possible guardianship record for James. |

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
