William D. Straup
  William D. Straup, 14 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Straup, of Lydick, Ind., died at 5:10 a.m. today after a week's illness of pneumonia.  The boy was a student in the South Bend High school.  He was born in Warren township, May 5, 1905.  Besides his parents, he leaves five sisters and one brother.  Private funeral services will be held at the residence Saturday and burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery.

  Jacob E. Straup, age 56, of Lydick, this county, died Sunday morning at the Chicago Memorial hospital after an illness of four months.  He was born in German township, Jan. 26, 1868, and had resided in this county all his life.  Surviving are his wife, Lillian Ross Straup, whom he married in Warren township; his step-mother, Mrs. Fiana Straup; six children, Mrs. Claude Petterson, Mrs. Albert Wedel, Mrs. Martha Trumble, Dorothy, Josephine and Frederick, all of Lydick, and four brothers, Dr. F.E. Straup and D.N. Straup, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, R.S. Straup, of Lydick, and J.W. Straup, Humbolt, S.D.

Mrs. Lillian Ross Straup
  Mrs. Lillian Ross Straup, age 59, died in her residence in Lydick, this county, Friday afternoon at 12:10 o'clock after an illness of five months.  She was born in Chicago, March 9, 1867, and was married there to Jacob E. Straup, Feb. 10, 1893.  He died two and one-half years ago.  She is survived by six children, Mrs. Claude Peterson, Mrs. Marvin Trumble, Mrs. Albert Wedel, Miss Dorothy Ross Straup, Miss Josephine B. Straup, and Frederick E. Straup, all of Lydick.  One sister, Mrs. R.L. Mallory, and six grandchildren, of Lydick, also survive.
  The funeral will be held in the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Elmer Ward Cole, pastor of the First Christian church, South Bend, will officiate.  Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery.  Mrs. Straup was a member of the First Christian church.
