(or Town or anything else) in Clermont Co., OH, but there is a Union Twp. 4c. 1840 Census Index and Digital Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #15-16 of 20; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen). The index here, like the one on the Broderbund CD, says "Springfield," but nothing is written on the census page itself. If I back up from image #15, I eventually reach image #1, which says "Union," but Union is written in a different pen and a different hand from the rest of the page, so I'm not 100% confident even it is correct. Certainly, I see no sign of Springfield written anywhere on this group of pages — and the bottom line is, there's no other reason to believe our widower ever lived anywhere other than Goshen Twp. as an adult.¤•

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
