Adam is said to have died in NC, but I've found no evidence that he was ever in NC.

For many years, family researchers trustingly accepted the claim of a single researcher, despite a refusal to share evidence, that our subjects's son, Jacob, was the one in Lincoln [now Gaston] Co., NC. That researcher is now deceased, and an examination of her work now discloses there never was evidence to support the claim.

Numerous decendants of this Jacob STROUP have been Y-DNA tested, and those test results support the alternative view, which is consistent with paper evidence, that this Jacob STROUP is, in fact, Johann Jacob STRAUB, who immigrated to Philadelphia from Grossgartach, Wuerttemberg, in 1733 with his father, Johann Pieter STRAUB I (and mother and brother). This episode is a lesson in why it is so important to 1) document your work, and 2) share that documentation. Many heads are better than one, and we do our best work when we allow other to critique our progress. Decades were wasted here on a wild goose chase.
