The enumerator had written "Uncle" in the Relationship column for Alice.  Then someone in a different hand and with a different pen has crossed it out and written "aunt" on top of it.  The problem here is that Alice is of an age to be Samuel's niece, not his aunt, and that may be what the enumerator meant originally, that is, that Samuel was her uncle.  I have not yet "done" the genealogy of his brothers, so I don't know which one might have had a daughter, Alice.  Rebecca could only be Samuel's granddaughter if he had a daughter who married a BOWERSOX, but Samuel doesn't appear to have had a daughter, at all, and he is barely old enough to be a grandfather.  Just as the enumerator (and his critic) both erred with regard to Alice's relationship, I suspect Rebecca's relationship is also incorrect, but that she, too, is somehow related.  Note that Samuel's son, Ammon, later married a BOWERSOX.
