Sources (n.b., Oklahoma became
a state in 1907):
1. Marriage Record: 2. 1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): The only Nicholas STRAUB in the census who appears to be our subject is the one living with Widow Barbara (STELKA) STRAUB in Clinton Co., IL (q.v.). Emma COFFER (æ 3, b. PA) is living in Lower Swatara Twp., Dauphin Co., PA (pp. 470B-471A), with her parents, William COFFER (æ 35, b. PA) and Louisa (æ 28, b. PA), and four siblings. This Emma COFFER appears to be out subject's wife, but my inability to find this family in 1880 and 1900 makes it difficult to call it a connection, especially when a file at WorldConnect says Emma married an "unknown THACKER." On the other hand, the birthplaces of William & Louisa's other children put them in geographical proximity with Nicholas. 3. 1880 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): Nick STRAUB is still living with Widow Barbara (STELKA) STRAUB in Clinton Co., IL (q.v.). I can't find the COFFER family anywhere, but they may have been in Indian Territory (now OK), and there was no 1880 census there. 4. 1890 Census: the 1890 Census Population Schedules were destroyed. 5. 1900 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #11 of 23): T28N.R24E, Peoria Nation, Indian Territory [now Peoria Twp., Ottawa Co., OK], Roll T623_1854, p. 90B, SN 7, SD Indian Terr., ED 1, enumerated 18 Jun 1900, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1900 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•
7. WorldConnect / Ancestry World Trees (online at RootsWeb.com/Ancestry.com). A file on the COFFER family has Emma married to an "unknown THACKER," but no other information about her. |

On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
