Lily is said to be John's married sister.  Why are John and Bertha living separately (see next source)?  And while I agree that the enumerator should not have put numbers in Columns 10 and 11 for John (or for any male), so it was appropriate to strick them out, why was John's one child shown as not surviving?  Clearly, son Howard SMITH is alive because he's living with his maternal grandmother (see following source).
