Is her given name enumerator error, or was she Rebecca Rachael? There is such a place as Wittenberg, but surely Wuerttemberg was intended. Charles STRAUB is Rachel's son from her prior marriage. If John G. ROTH was eleven days old on Jun 1st, he was born 21 May 1860.

Could this be our subject? If not, I can't find him, and it's otherwise quite a coincidence that he's living with a STRAUB in Iowa — what could have been the relationship between Charles STRAUB and Albert STRAUB? Also, John certainly appears to have had grounds to divorce Rachel, though she later calls herself a widow, not a divorcée, but she would have in any case.
