Child with Nancy JAMERSON — born in Washington Co., VA: |
Did John have a child with Nancy, who was given up for adoption when
Nancy died? A man alone would not have been able to care for an infant,
and John had little if any extended family to aid him, as all his NEWHOUSE
kin had moved to Indiana by 1820. He very likely would have been
forced by circumstances to give up any children Nancy had born him.
If so, was this male his son?
. Jacob Jackson STROUP, b. 1831/2, VA There were already reasons to believe Jacob had been adopted by his parents, Jacob & Mary (KETTENRING) STROUP, so when a patrilineal descendant of Jacob Jackson's turned out to be a high-level DNA match with this NEWHOUSE family, the probability of an adoption (or illicit paternity) became a certainty. Our subject is the only known adult male NEWHOUSE in Washington, Smyth, or Wythe Cos. at the time of Jacob's conception, so he is the only candidate for Jacob Jackson's father, but even so, please consider this connection tentative. |
