Jacob KOPP
Mary Ellen __?__
NOTICE:  Our subject is one of several Jacob CUPP / COPP / KOPP in the southern U.S. being mixed up by secondary sources.  Please see this disambiguation page for my ongoing attempt at sorting them out.
Husband:  Jacob KOPP
Birth:  ca. 1750
Death:  1810-19, Mason Co., KY
Marriage:  by 1775
Wife:  Mary Ellen __?__
Birth:  ca. 1755
Children:
said to be born in Amity Twp., Berks Co., PA:
Barbara / Barbary KOPP, b. 1775
Dorothy "Dolly" KOPP, b. 1778
.  (Son A) KOPP, b. 1765-84
.  (Son B) KOPP, b. 1765-84

Philip KOPP / CUPP, b. 1780/1, PA
Margaret KOPP / COOP, b. 1789/90, PA
Elizabeth KOPP, b. ca. 1795

.  (Daughter A) KOPP, b. 1784-94
.  (Daughter B) KOPP, b. 1784-94

born in Mason Co., KY:
Daniel KOPP, b. 1796/7, KY

The average maximum span of fecudity for a woman is 23 years (from age 20 to 43).
Mary Ellen exemplifies this average span suggesting Barbara really is her first child and Daniel really is her last.

Said to have had this son, but Mary Ellen is much too old to be his mother.  Is he a grandson?
.  Joseph KOPP CUPP, b. 14 Jan 1810, PA?; m. Eleanor LEFTER, d/o Dorothy (KOPP) LEFTER
Joseph is said to have been born in Somerset Co., PA.  This seems impossible as the family was definitely in Mason Co., KY, by at least 1797.

This is an extraordinary age for anyone to reach in the early 19th-century.  I strongly suspect age inflation may have taken place.  Mrs. CUPP appears to have come into considerable wealth since 1820, when she owned no slaves.  Was her husband's or father's estate settled upon her after 1820?  Or is this simply not our subject?  Listed 12 lines above Phillip KUPP
