Conrad KOPP I
Eva Elisabetha KNÖDLER / KNOEDLER
WARNING:  Sorting out the baptisms of the children in Northampton [now Lehigh] County has its problems.  Conrad II, our subject, and his father, Conrad I, were both having children in the county, and both had wives named, "Elisabetha/Elisabeth/Elizabeth."  The earlier children show the mother as "Eva Elisabetha," while the younger ones have mother, "Elisabeth."  I have taken this to be the difference between our subject's children and those of his son.  This difference also coincides with the children known to have moved to Ohio with Conrad II.  There is also the fact that Eva Elisabetha was too old to be the mother of the later children.  However, the possibility remains that I did not make the division in the right place.  We would really like to find the death records of all of Conrad II's children, to confirm who their parents were.
Husband:  Conrad KOPF / KOP / KOPP I  (Sr.)
Birth said to be:  1753
Death apparentlyaft. 1805, not 1795 as often stated, probably in Weisenberg Twp.,
Military Service said to be:  Revolutionary War

KOPP is by far the most common spelling of this surname in Germany, so it is likely that was the original spelling of our subject's surname.  Most of his descendants appear to have converted to CUPP.
In January, 1800, a Conrad KOPP was an administrator for the will of Daniel KRONINGER, father of the Elizabeth CRONINGER who married our subject's son, Conrad KOPP/CUPP II.  Almost everyone assumes that this administrator is the son, Conrad II, but that assumption is based on a belief that Conrad II was about 35 years of age at the time.  He wasn't; he was closer to the age of his future wife, Elizabeth, who was born in 1782.  He was, in fact, only 18 at the time, meaning he was under age and could not legally have been the administrator.  We have to conclude that Conrad I was still living in 1800, and that jibes with him being the head-of-household in the 1800 census (see below).
Marriage:  ca. 1778
Wife:  Eva Elisabeth KNÖDLER / KNOEDLER / KNODLER / KNEDLER
Birth:  21 Apr 1750
Death:  aft. 1805s, probably in Weisenberg Twp., Northampton [now Lehigh] Co., PA
Other Spouse:  m1. by 1772, Abraham KNÖRR / KNOERR (1753?-1777)
Other Children, surnamed KNOERR:  Anna Elizabeth, b. 1772; Andreas, b. 1774, Abraham, b. 1775; Susanna, b. 1777
Father:  Hans Georg KNOEDLER
Mother:  Maria Elisabetha HEUSSLER

Eva and Conrad are said to have married in 1795, but it had to have been earlier because they had a child baptized in 1781.  Eva was widowed by the Revolutionary War in 1777 and was left with four young children to raise.  Under the circumstances, she would have re-married as quickly as possible, and it is not unusual for a widow in these circumstances to marry a younger man — thanks to a war having just put adult men in short supply.
It is said that Elisabeth was confirmed at the age of 18, but was she really?  Everything else would make a lot more sense if she had been confirmed at the usual age of 14.  She'd have married men one year older, not three years younger, than herself; she'd have married closer to the typical age of 19, rather than age 22; and she'd have been just young enough to bear a child as late as 1797.
Eva is said to have died in Lowhill Twp., Northampton [now Lehigh] Co., PA, but that may be an assumption based on her having lived there with her first husband.  The 1790 and 1800 censuses show her in Weisenberg Twp.
Children — born in Northampton [now Lehigh] Co., PA:
  1.  Margaretha / Margaret KOP, b. 25 Dec 1779; m. John KLONINGER, s/o Daniel; remained in PA
  2.  Conrad KOP / CUPP II (Jr.), b. 26 Oct 1781; bap. 11 Nov 1781, Lowhill; m. Elizabeth KLONINGER, d/o Daniel; in 1820 census of Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH
  3.  Philip CUPP, b. 1780-90; said to have married, 1st, an unknown CLONINGER; in 1820 census of Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH
  4.  (Daughter A) KOPP, b. bef. 1790 — could she be Catharina KOPP, b. 1783?
  5.  (Son A) KOPP, b. 1774-90
  6.  (Daughter B) KOPP, b. 1790-1800
  7.  (Son B) KOPP, b. 1790-1800
  8.  Christian KOPP, b. 14 May 1794; bap. 8 Jun 1794, Lowhill

This is an extraordinary age for Eva Elisabetha to still be having children (age 47).  Are we wrong about her birthyear?
  9.  Maria Eva KOPP, b. 17 Jan 1797; bap. 22 Jan 1797, Lowhill

The typical age at confirmation is 14, which would make Conrad born 1758/9.  So, is this not our subject?  Or is this an adult confirmation?  Eva is said to have been confirmed at the age of 18, perhaps Conrad was, too, which would make him born 1754/5, which would jibe with the 1800 census.

The years are not written on the pages, themselves, so I'm dependent on Ancestry's index to tell me the year.  Clearly, one or the other listings for 1781 is incorrect, but I guess you'd have to see the original to know which.
There is a history of a Leonard in the family.  Is he Conrad's brother or his father?
