James Henderson HAYS
Mary Magdalene CARRICO
Catherine Elizabeth Rebecca CARRICO
Mary Malissa POWELL
WARNING:  There are some serious anomalies in this page.  Mary's death date and Catherine's marriage date cannot both be correct, not unless his marriage to Mary was annulled.  Based on the online photograph of Catherine's alleged tombstone, the death date on it cannot be correct.  I don't descend from this family, so I'm not going to pursue these issues further, but someone needs to do so.

KY) are living in Washington Co., KY (p. 221B), with their parents, Payton HAYS (æ 50, b. KY) & Tabitha (æ 45, b. KY), plus siblings, et al.  It appears the younger son was mis-enumerated "John H." when he should have been "James H.," although it's hard to tell because this enumerator's handwriting is atrocious.  Mary M. CARRICO (æ 12, b. KY) and her sister, Cathrine R. CARRICO (æ 7, b. KY), are living in Washington Co., KY, with their parents (q.v.).

Anna can't be age 11, not unless the 1860 census is in error or she's adopted, but see next source.  Or is she Mary's child from a former marriage?

Each of these tombstones has an accompanying photograph, and I agree with the readings.  The "5" in "1856" for the first stone is not entirely clear, but it doesn't appear to be "6" as claimed by secondary sources, not unless the digital version of this image is corrupted, which is certainly possible.  I agree that 1866 makes far sense, on several grounds, but 1866 is not what it reads in the photo.

9.  Broderbund.  World Family Trees.  Vol. 4, Pedigree #3517.  There's nothing here that isn't online at WorldConnect, in fact much less.

10.  WorldConnect / Ancestry World Trees (online at RootsWeb.com/Ancestry.com).
One file here cites the marriage record to Catherine as seen on LDS microfilm and gives the year as 1864.  If so, this date makes much more sense.  However, the year in county marriage books and church records is seldom misread because the marriages are recorded chronologically.  There wouldn't be an 1864 marriage in the middle of 1863 records, and vice versa.  Obviously, the film needs to be re-checked.
