Martin HART
Lucinda BEMIS
Margaret SPIDEL
Husband:  Martin HART
Birth:  25 Apr 1800/1, Westford, Chittendon Co., VT
Death:  13 Apr 1877, Castleton Twp., Barry Co., MI
Disposition:  buried Hosmer Cemetery, Castleton Twp., Barry Co., MI
Father:  Benjamin HART (1778-<1840)
Mother:  Anna BURDICK (1784-<1850)
Marriage-1:  by 1825
Wife-1:  Lucinda BEMIS
Birth:  13 Sep 1798, Littleton, Grafton Co., NH
Death:  15 Jun 1870, Castleton Twp., Barry Co., MI
Disposition:  buried Hosmer Cemetery, Barry Co., MI
Father:  John BEMIS
Mother:  Mary "Polly" HUDSON

The children's records do not agree on Lucinda's maiden name (see FamilySearch.org).
  • Lorenzo's death certificate gives Lucinda's maiden name as BENNET.
  • Roxanna's marriage records give Lucinda's maiden name as BEMIS [or unreadable].
  • Fredrick's marriage records give Lucinda's maiden name variously as BEMIS, BEMISS, BEMUS, BERNESS, BERNIS, BERNUS, and BEMESS.
The weight of evidence does appear to lean towards BEMIS, so I'm going along with those who show her as the above Lucinda BEMIS, but without primary documentation, I still consider the identification tentative.
