Daniel's step-mother was a HEWITT, so there may be a relationship to Joseph, and/or Mary may be Joseph's sister — or Susanna's sister (her maiden name was MITCHELL).

Daniel's father was born in NY; his mother's birthplace is unknown.  Hannah is obviously Daniel's daughter from a prior marriage.  In the 1870 census, the birthplace of Daniel's first wife is given as New York, so, unless Daniel had three wives, either the 1870 census or the 1880 census is wrong about the prior wife's birthplace.

If the eldest daughter was born in Nov 1880, she should be 19, not 20, so this daughter, "Galusha," must be Florence — who survived to marry — who was born in Nov 1879 and would be age 20 in the 1900 census.
