7.  1890 Census:  the 1890 Census Population Schedules were destroyed.

8.  1900 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  can't find Clara.  Sam AKINS (æ 29, b. Aug 1870, MO/TN/MO; grocer) is unmarried and living in Joachim Twp., Jefferson Co., MO (p. 75A).

...I feel that the Samuel Eakin you have in the 1860 census for Auglaize Twp. Camden Co. MO is the Samuel Eaken that shows up in the Civil War records as having been arrested for giving help to the other side, going to prison   (Union) and dying there in 1865.  The records show that this Eaken was also born in 1811 in VA, has family in Camden Co., was a farmer, and started buying land in Camden Co. as early as 1849...
It appears Janet is correct, but that leaves us wondering where our Samuel was in the pre-1870 censuses.
