Children often believe the place where they grew up is where they were born. A better source for a child's birthplace is the parents' early census record. In this case, they show that our subject was more likely born in VA/WV than he was in KY.

Given the age difference between Denny and Lola, we would expect him to have had a prior wife, and his marriage record to Lola indicates he does (see below). It appears that he is the Dennis DAMRON in Cumberland, MD, but so far I've found no direct link, only circumstantial evidence. Do bear in mind that it's typical for railroad employees to move around a lot, so the geography here does not rule out that these records all pertain to the same man. Both Cumberland, MD, and Ironton, OH, were major stops on the B&O (see map).
