5. John
CARRICO / CARICO, b. 1857/8
John was born apparently well after Rachel's death, but before Thomas's marriage to Elizabeth RAY. On one of John's marriage records, he gives his father's name as "Thomas," but his mother's name as "Rebecca." Despite the fact that Thomas's obituary says he married only twice, I'm inclined to think he had a wife (or mistress) between his marriages to Rachel and Betsy. Newspapers are notoriously bad at getting facts correct, and we don't know how well-informed the author of the obituary was. Either that or Rachel was Rachel Rebecca KIRK, but that means we have to posit the loss of some three children between Jeremiah and John, which is possible, but I think it's more likely Thomas had a wife unknown to the author of the obit. |
