"Thursa" appears to be an alternate spelling of "Thurza," a Germanic form of "Tirzah," a Hebrew name from the Old Testament.

Children — born in Elk Creek Twp., Grayson Co., VA:
  1.  Joseph J. CARRICO, b. 12 Nov 1865
  2.  Amanda CARRICO, b. 25 Apr 1867; d. 6 Oct 1913, Haywood Co., NC; m. 16 Feb 1891, Grayson Co., VA, David Willie HAGA (1872-1952)
  3.  William [A. and/or R.] CARRICO, b. 25 Dec 1868; m. 29 Sep 1887, Grayson Co., VA, Tabitha [Jane] "Jennie" POOLE (1869- )
  4.  Elizabeth CARRICO, b. 1870/1
  5.  George Alexander CARRICO, b. 27 Apr 1872; m. 21 Mar 1891, Betty CRIGGER
  6?  Emily Jane CARRICO, b. 25 Apr 1873 or Aug 1874
  7.  Stephen L. CARRICO, b. May 1876
  8.  Wiley Crockett CARRICO, b. 15 Jun 1877
  9.  James M. CARRICO, b. Aug 1879
10.  Mary A. CARRICO, b. Jun 1881

14.  Cloyd K. CARRICO, b. Sep 1889
15?  Emery E. CARRICO, b. Nov 1890

Thursa indicates she had only 14 children, so either Emily Jane is not hers or Emery is not.  Given Thursa's age, it's amazing she had Cloyd, much less Emery.

Other Kin — born in VA:
Grandson (son of Joseph?):  Boyd W. CARRICO, b. Jul 1888

Where did Emily come from?  Was she missed in 1880, or is she adopted?  Boyd is probably Joseph's son (Stephen is too young to be his father).  Emery's a daughter?  Thursia would have been 46 years old in 1890!  Emily and Emery can't both be Thursia's children because that would put her over having had 14 children.

"Mallie" is Thursa's daughter, Mona.  Given the 58-year age difference between Thursa and Blaine, he cannot possibly be her son or Mona's brother.  He is, in fact, Thursa's grandson, son of her son, Wiley C. CARRICO.
