Samuel BROWN — probably a fabricated couple
Martha CHASE |
Please Note: secondary sources are equating our subject with the Samuel BOWEN who married Martha CHASE. My take on the situation, at the moment, is that someone fabricated these connections to give their BROWNs some illlustrious ancestors. (Yes, people do such things, especially in the past when it was easier not to get caught doing it.) |
Husband: Samuel BROWN
Birth: ca. 1694 Whether or not our subject exists, his parents are not this couple:
|
Marriage: |
Alleged Wife: Martha CHASE — this Martha CHASE married
Samuel
BOWEN, not Samuel BROWN
Birth: 24 Feb 1702, Swansea, Bristol Co., MA Death: after 19 Feb 1755, Swansea, Bristol Co., MA Spouse-1: m. 2 Nov 1720, Ezekiel FOWLER Spouse-2: m. 11 May 1749, Samuel BOWEN Father: Samuel CHASE Mother: Sarah SHERMAN |
Children: |
These names and dates are very similar to the list of children for
Samuel
& Lydia (FISH) BROWN. How can a son be having children roughly
the same age as his father? This list appears to be a (clumsy) fabrication,
based on the desire to appear connected to Samuel & Lydia.
1. Jemima BROWN, b. 1720, Salisbury, Essex Co., MA
