5.  1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #36 of 175):  Upper Regiment, Chatham Co., NC, Roll M432_624, 270/271, enumerated 28 Aug 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):-
Asa Beal 55 M   Farmer $600 North Carolina
Chloe  " 56 F       "
Abigail " 26 F       "
William " 20 M   "   "
Aaron   " 17 M   "   "
Robert  " 12 M       "
Eliza   " 12 F       "
Delilah Moran 90 F       "
Delilah (MANN) MORAN is Chloe's mother.  I can't place Eliza, but she was not with them in 1840, so is presumably a niece or grandchild.

6.  1860 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #61 of 84):  Pittsboro P.O., Middle Division, Chatham Co., NC, Roll M653_892, p. 107A/213, PN 61, 503/455, enumerated 13? Jul 1860, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1860 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):-
Asa Beal 66 M   Farmer 800 600 NC
Clay   " 67 F         "
Abygald " 36 F         "
Listed next to married son, William & Phoebe (DOWDY) BEAL.

7.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #22 of 24):  Grove P.O., Hickory Mountain Twp., Chatham Co., SC, Roll M593_1129, p. 96B, PN 22, 185/185, enumerated 15 Sep 1870, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):-
Beal Cathrine 77 F W Keeping House   325 North Carolina
Beal Annie 47 F W Keeping House   325 "
Listed next to married son, William & Phoebe (DOWDY) BEAL.  This has to be Chloe and Abigail.  Did the enumerator have some kind of breakdown?  Or are these their middle names?

8.  1880 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #3 of 40 indexed "Hields"):  Hickory Mt. Twp., Chatham Co., NC, Roll 957, p. 113C, PN 3, SD 2, ED 27, enumerated 2/3 Jun 1880, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1880 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):-

      "    Robert L W M 14 Sone /     Farming   / / " " "
      "    Thomas A W M 11 Sone /     "   / / " " "
Everyone from "Clora" on down is surnamed BEAL, not FIELDS, much less HIELDS.  "Clora" is Chloe (MORAN) BEAL.  Julian (BEAL) FIELDS is Chloe's daughter.  Phoebe (DOWDY) BEAL is Chloe's widowed daughter-in-law, not her daughter.  This enumerator's handwriting was unbelieveably sloppy, not to mention his gross errors.

9.  1890 Census:  the 1890 Census Population Schedules were destroyed.
