North and South Dakota became states in 1889. There had been censuses in the Dakota Territory beginning in 1860. There were no STRAUBs/STROUPs/etc. in the 1860 or 1870 censuses and only one in 1880, who was in a county which became part of North Dakota (q.v.). There were terrritorial censuses in 1885 and 1895. The entire 1890 Federal census was lost. Below, years in small text indicate no STRAUB, STROUP, etc. were found. |
