Tennessee was formed from North Carolina in 1796. The entire 1800 Tennessee census was lost, and all but one county of the 1810 Tennessee census was lost (viz., Rutherford — and there were no CORBINs there in 1810). Of the 48 counties existing at the time of the 1820 census, 22 were lost. The entire 1890 Federal census was lost.

¹William's son, Stephen CORBAN, was in Montgomery County in 1800 and 1810, but he doesn't show up here because, by 1820, he had moved to Franklin Co., MS.
²William and Charnal were in the 1790 census of Halifax Co., NC, then Charnel married in 1800 in Sumner Co., TN, to W2: Celia BARNES, so we know the family was in TN, if not Montgomery County, by at least 1800.
