Tennessee was formed from North Carolina in 1796.  The entire 1800 Tennessee census was lost, and all but one county of the 1810 Tennessee census was lost (viz., Rutherford — and there were no CORBINs there in 1810).  Of the 48 counties existing at the time of the 1820 census, 22 were lost.  The entire 1890 Federal census was lost.

1William's son, Stephen CORBAN, was in Montgomery County in 1800 and 1810, but he doesn't show up here because, by 1820, he had moved to Franklin Co., MS.
2William and Charnal were in the 1790 census of Halifax Co., NC, then Charnel married in 1800 in Sumner Co., TN, to W2: Celia BARNES, so we know the family was in TN, if not Montgomery County, by at least 1800.
