For the 1841 census, the ages of those over 15 years of age were rounded off to the nearest five years.

All of the 1841 census is PRO (Public Records Office) Reference Number HO-107. Individuals were born in the county where they were enumerated unless stated otherwise: OC = outside county; IRL = Ireland; FB = foreign born. For Find and search engine purposes, I have added some corrected/standardized spellings of names. The SURNAME shown in the Household field is as enumerated, if different from CORBIN.

The UK census has nothing comparable to the "Visitation/Family" numbers used in the U.S. census; enumerators simply used slashes to demarcate families. As a substitute I give the range of line numbers for the family/group, rather than the Line numbers for each individual (as given in the index at Ancestry.com). With regard to Folio numbers, "A" is the front side and "B" is the back side of the sheet/leaf.

The index at Ancestry.com is not always accurate with regard to location, so the location here is not blindly taken from the index, but is extracted from the census pages, themselves, in particular from the first page of each ED (Enumeration District) where the enumerator gives the location in detail. In general, the Place names are hard to read, both because of the tiny handwriting and because the names are unfamiliar to me. I did the best I could, but if you know the correct reading, please share it.

I have standardized some place names for the sake of searches. "Southampton County" is an alternate name for Hampshire County that occurs on some pages; I have ignored the difference and grouped them all under Hampshire.
